Valiant Heroes is an RPG game with a turn-based combat system developed at King -- the very studio that created the smash hits Candy Crush Saga and Bubble Witch Saga, among others. This time around, the adventure is set in a world of medieval fantasy, where knights wear armour and powerful wizards face off against the forces of evil (goblins, orcs and other monsters).
Game systems in Valiant Heroes are well-adapted to smartphones. Dabbling in traditional SRPG gameplay with slight modifications, each level is relatively small in size, and provides you with hexagonally shaped spaces to move your characters. Each of your characters can only move a maximum number of spaces per turn, and carry out a single action each time.
The average length of each level in Valiant Heroes is anywhere from a few seconds long to several minutes. It's up to you to finish off all the enemies on your map -- you'll also be their target -- before you run out of time. During battles, one of the main aspects to keep in mind is terrain. Attacking from high above is a better option as it inflicts more damage on your opponent.
Between one battle and the next, there's a chance to level up your heroes and equip them with new weapons, armor and accessories. Starting out, you'll only have a few heroes available, but as you continue, you'll begin to pick up more and more characters with unique skills.
Valiant Heroes is an excellent SRPG. Just like any other King game it really brings a lot to the table in terms of visual quality. Plus, the game itself is a unique departure from other titles within its lengthy universe of games, offering a newly redefined table-top feel to a more casual setting.
